What We Believe
The New Birth
To have spiritual birth, or to be born again, means you have accepted salvation or that you have been saved
WHAT IS THE NEW BIRTH
To be born into this world, a physical birth was essential. In order to go to Heaven, a spiritual birth is required. To have a spiritual birth, or to be born again, means that you have accepted salvation or that you have been saved.
THE NEED FOR SALVATION
"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned." Roman 5:12
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
Individuals who control their own lives, living according to their set agendas without God's influence are called sinners. They fall short of the standard set by God and are separated by choice from Him.
-
Man has sinned
-
Spiritual death is the consequence of sin
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord." Romans 6:23
-
Man is dependent on God for salvation.
"No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me down draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." John 6:44
-
Many are deceived into believing that they can work their way into heaven. Being a good person will not get you into heaven nor will church activities or church attendance. Salvation is a gift from God.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
GOD HAS PROVIDED THE WAY FOR US TO HAVE AN ETERNAL RELATION WITH HIM
"For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exalt in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation." Romans 5:6-11
-
We were helpless when God demonstrated His love to us
-
We must be justified to be saved from the wrath of God for our sins
-
We are justified through the death/blood of Jesus
"For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through Me." John 14:6
Humankind was so fallible that God himself came in human flesh to restore us back to Himself. If there were any other alternative, Jesus Christ would not have needed to come. The person of Jesus Christ is the way back to God. The choice humankind has to become a Christian to make a conscious decision to place one's trust in Jesus as the only One who can save humanity from sin. Our relationship with God is not restored based on individual actions, but solely on the basis of what Jesus Christ already did for us.
Read Romans 10:9-10. What do these verses say you must do to be saved?
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God rises Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the hearth man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Romans 10:9-10
